We survey, make and fit made-to-measure timber doors throughout County Durham, covering 10 towns from the workshop to the fitted door.
Coastal openings. Peterlee, Seaham sit close enough to open water that salt-laden air drives the specification: Accoya or dense hardwood, a high-build microporous coating and grade A4 marine stainless ironmongery.
Conservation areas. Durham, Barnard Castle carry designated conservation areas or listed frontages. Like-for-like timber replacement is rarely refused; changing material or glazing pattern usually is. We produce drawings for consent applications.
All twenty-four types are available here, supplied and fitted with a ten-year guarantee.

See bespoke timber doors →Slim-profile units down to around 11mm can, and they are frequently accepted where a chunky modern unit would not be. Some listed buildings still require single glazing.
Often. Conservation area status can remove permitted development rights for front elevations, and Article 4 directions tighten it further. Check with the local planning authority before ordering.
A four-panel door with a bolection moulding and an etched or obscured upper light. Stile widths matter — narrow modern stiles make the proportions look wrong immediately.
Modern microporous coatings hold colour well, though very dark colours on south-facing elevations work hardest. We will advise if a chosen colour is likely to be a maintenance burden.
Regularly. Listed building consent is a separate process from planning, and we can supply the drawings and specification your application needs.
First-season adjustment is included. Timber settles, buildings move, and a small tweak after a winter is normal rather than a fault.
Each town page carries its own exposure, housing character and planning notes.
Send sizes or a photograph and we will come back with an indicative range, then survey free of charge before anything is made.
