Painted Timber Doors in Cornwall
Our Painted Timber Doors are made to order for Cornwall, spray-finished and cured before delivery so the door arrives protected.
8 of the 12 towns we cover in Cornwall are coastal, where Accoya or dense hardwood and marine-grade stainless ironmongery are the sensible specification, and 5 carry designated conservation areas where the glazing pattern and mouldings need to match what is already there.
Timber moves. The trick is not to stop it but to allow for it — correct moisture content at the workshop, sealed end grain, a finish that lets vapour out and keeps water off, and clearances set for the season you fit in.
Price and lead time in Cornwall
Painted Timber Doors start at £1,450 per door supplied and fitted, VAT included, with a typical lead time of 6–8 weeks. Try the indicative price tool for a range, or send sizes and we will be closer.
Common questions
Is a factory-sprayed finish better than painting on site?
Considerably. Spraying gives an even film thickness on all six faces including the top and bottom edges, and it cures in controlled conditions rather than in whatever weather turns up.
What drawings will I need for an application?
Usually an elevation at 1:20, a section through the door and frame showing mouldings, and a written specification of timber, finish and glazing. We produce these.
What do conservation officers usually object to?
Wrong material, wrong glazing pattern, and mouldings that are close but not right. Timber matching the original pattern is rarely refused.
What door suits a Victorian terrace?
A four-panel door with a bolection moulding and an etched or obscured upper light. Stile widths matter — narrow modern stiles make the proportions look wrong immediately.
What is the difference between a door and a doorset?
A doorset is the leaf, frame, seals and ironmongery supplied together and pre-hung. It fits faster and performs more predictably than parts assembled on site.
Do you handle planning applications?
We do not submit on your behalf, but we produce the elevational drawings, sections and specification that conservation and planning officers ask for.
