Timber Garage Doors
Side-hung, up-and-over and barn-style garage doors in cedar or idigbo.
Most door problems are not the door. They are an opening that has moved, a cill that sheds water backwards, or a finish that was never cured properly. A survey is what separates a door that works from one you fight with.
What you get
- A measured survey before anything is cut, recording the opening at several heights because very few are square.
- Timber specified for the site — engineered redwood under paint, dense hardwood where strength matters, oak where the grain is the point, Accoya where exposure is severe.
- A factory finish sprayed on all six faces including top and bottom edges, then cured before the door leaves the workshop.
- Fitting and first-season adjustment, because timber settles and buildings move.
- A ten-year guarantee on the joinery and the finish.
Guide price and lead time
Timber Garage Doors start at £2,900 per set supplied and fitted, with VAT included. Typical lead time is 8–10 weeks from survey to fitting. Size, timber, glazing and ironmongery all move the number — use the indicative price tool for a range in about a minute, or send sizes for something closer.
Common questions
Which garage door type suits timber best?
Side-hung, because the weight is carried on hinges rather than a mechanism. Up-and-over in timber works but the gear must be specified for the weight.
How do you handle out-of-hours or emergency repairs?
Making a door secure and weathertight is usually possible quickly; the permanent repair follows once parts are available.
Do you offer trade supply?
Yes, for builders and joiners working to their own programme. Trade orders still go through the same survey and quality checks.
How do you price glazing?
By area and specification. Obscure and etched glass costs more than clear; leaded and stained panels are priced per panel once the pattern is agreed.
What is the difference between a door and a doorset?
A doorset is the leaf, frame, seals and ironmongery supplied together and pre-hung. It fits faster and performs more predictably than parts assembled on site.
Do you handle planning applications?
We do not submit on your behalf, but we produce the elevational drawings, sections and specification that conservation and planning officers ask for.
What about draughts around the frame?
Compression seals in the rebate handle the leaf; the gap between frame and structure is a separate job, insulated and sealed on fitting rather than filled with expanding foam alone.
How it works
Tell us the opening
Send sizes, a photo or just the address. A rough idea is enough to price the job.
Free measured survey
We measure the structural opening, check the cill and reveal, and confirm the specification.
Made and finished
Your door is machined, assembled and spray-finished, then cured before it leaves the workshop.
Fitted and adjusted
Hung, ironmongery set, weatherseals checked and the door left closing properly on a cold morning.
